Mission

Salus IRB is passionately committed to the protection of the rights and welfare of research participants. Our board and professional staff are dedicated to the provision of ethical reviews of the highest quality, combined with impeccable customer service. Our goal is to continually enhance our human research protection program to ensure effective, efficient, and innovative processes.

Values

Salus IRB operates according to its policies and the application of our core values as independent review board professionals. Salus’ staff is provided with the tools and guidance necessary to adhere to an established code of conduct, through training and by the example set by the leadership team. As a diverse group of individuals in an emerging profession, we strive to influence others who participate in the research process to uphold these principles.

Ownership

We take responsibility for our profession, our environment, and our tasks. We recognize a responsibility to our peers to maintain the long-term integrity of our profession and to preserve the public’s confidence.

Advocacy

We advocate for the participants who enroll in the research we evaluate.

Respect

We have an appreciation for the value of the work we do. We treat each other with dignity and courtesy and respect the privacy of our colleagues and the confidentiality of our clients.

Fairness

We treat all persons fairly and equitably. We respect the letter and spirit of the regulations and policies we are bound to uphold and the rights and tolerances of others. We are patient with those whose abilities or perspectives may differ from ours.

Courage

We choose to do the right thing even when doing so is difficult. We admit mistakes and take appropriate measures to promptly correct them.

Honesty

We are truthful and sincere and do not practice deceit, exhibiting honesty in the quality of our work. We ensure that information provided to research participants, colleagues, and representatives of regulatory agencies is accurate and complete.

Integrity

We do not compromise our values for personal gain or professional advancement. We embody our integrity in our work by being principled and consistent.

Competence

We demonstrate our knowledge, experience, and dedication to our work and the flexibility to adapt to the ever changing realm of the IRB profession. We exhibit leadership in areas in which we are particularly proficient, offering to help in areas where our individual skills are needed. We seek opportunities for professional growth and development for ourselves and our colleagues.

Excellence

We strive to maintain excellence, never compromising or accepting lesser standards. We welcome ways to improve current processes to ensure that our standards are continually met or exceeded.
